The LPE-1 utilizes IR touchscreen technology to emulate light pen type protocol with an LCD display. This is necessary because Light Pen technology does not work on LCD displays. Therefore, processing systems that utilize light pen tech have not previously been able to replace their CRT displays with LCD displays. Benchmark Automation has developed a light pen emulator product that now allows light pen based processing systems to migrate from CRT to LCD display technology.
